Description
It was an early December morning in Columbus, still dark and quiet. Even with no lights turned on in the house, the room was awash with a bright light shining in through a window high in the corner. I stood still in the peace and awe of that bright golden call to pay attention to the universe outside my walls. There was much to do that day, but I could not ignore this beacon and so I tried to capture the moment so I can remember to keep looking up and beyond to all of the greatness that surrounds us!
According to www.Space.com: "When the "Full Cold Moon" rises on Sunday night (Dec. 3) it will also mark the first (and last) "supermoon" of 2017.
Supermoons happen when a full moon approximately coincides with the moon's perigee, or a point in its orbit at which it is closest to Earth. This makes the moon appear up to 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual. The moon becomes totally full at 10:47 a.m. EST (1547 GMT) on Sunday (Dec. 3). It will officially reach perigee less than 24 hours later on Monday (Dec. 4) at 3:45 a.m. EST." This was taken December 4, 2017 at 7:00am
I am thrilled to say this image won Honorable Mention in the January Photo competition of the Westbridge Camera Club in January 2018. The theme of the competition was "Images taken in 2017." It is a great honor and I am very grateful for the recognition!
I really appreciate you taking time to look at my artwork. Thank you so much!
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!

Well seen - love the play of the shapes and the way the circle of the moon contrasts with all the straight lines. This was one of my two pod's in the Best of Minimalism group for December 24.
