Beauty of Glass
The work in this gallery is inspired by the work of my Dad, who was an artist involved in the glassware industry for much of his life. He worked at Federal Glass for 25 years and then at Lancaster Colony. He traveled to many countries finding inspiration in handmade glass art and translated that into glassware that could be manufactured in their factory and sold for people to enjoy every day. Growing up I was always exposed to beautiful pieces of glass and grew to love its beauty. This gallery is showing how I see glass. Some images show an amber glass pitcher which was Hand-made at Blenko Glass in Huntington, W. Va. It was designed by my dad, George Wood. It is one of a kind and made during an Industrial Design seminar that Dad attended in the early 1960s. Everyone at the seminar could make a design and the craftsmen there made them while they watched!
